Welcome to KHOSA Hockey Club

We are the biggest and most successful hockey club in the West Rand. With over 40 years of existence, the club has been organising and entering teams in the Greater Gauteng Regional Field Hockey League for decades, with a long history of success. With more than two hundred active members, both girls and boys, we cover all age groups and skills levels. Our players come from all over the West Rand, and we also host and sponsor some of the less fortunate community.

Our aim is for players to develop on their own under the guidance of our passionate coaches who are always willing, able and committed to witness the individual players grow in their personal capacity as well as their Hockey playing skills capacity. Our ethos goes beyond developing hockey skills higher than school level but to rather develop players in their personal capacity to their full potential.

Why KHOSA Hockey

KHOSA Hockey offers great value for money with
over 20 weeks of hockey that gives you:

• FUN and ENGAGING way to build a strong team spirit

Coaches

We’re proud to have the following skilful and experienced coaches involved with our players.

KHOSA Hockey is proud to have a diverse range of coaches each with complimenting strengths, playing and coaching experience, player management, and a shared passion for the game. Players will be exposed to qualified and skilled coaches that will enhance their game, teach them strategy, build teamwork and develop them appropriate to their age. The coaches will take players through warm-ups, set drills, game situations, and training programmes. They will accompany and guide the players on match day and ensure that we compete with the KHOSA ethos and team spirit.

Venues

Our primary venue is the Krugersdorp High School Astro. The Fast 5s tournament may be held at several schools that partner with us, such as KHS, Monument, CURRO, and Noordheuwel. The Indoor tournament is usually held at Key West Shopping Centre. All these details will be confirmed closer to the dates.

Player safety protocol

The safety of our players is paramount to us and we would like to highlight three areas:

Safety gear

Due to the nature of the game, there is a likelihood that players could get injured as sticks fly, balls travel at speed etc. Please ensure that your children wear mouthguards to protect their teeth, shin guards for their legs, and ideally gloves for their fingers.

Security at venues

We have players from all age groups attending practices and matches. Our rule is that no player may exit the venue unless they are met by the parent or guardian at the gate. We simply can’t let our little ones exit to the parking lot unaccompanied.

Getting involved with the club

The committee members are involved with the club out of pure passion for the game and development of our youth. While it can be a thankless job at times it can be tremendously rewarding to see our young players grow through the ranks, build comradery, and develop in confidence.

We welcome parents and club members who would like to volunteer their time to help us achieve this goal of developing our players and growing this beautiful game. You don’t have to hold an official position but your helping hand would go a long way to assisting the club.

If you are interested in getting involved, please contact any of the committee members.
